The Exodus from London…
Chapter 16 was a bit of a rough one on your Humble Narrator, there are (spoilers) only the briefest mention of the Martians, people are mostly just shitty to one another in the face of a seemingly unstoppable adversary, and the word "tumultuous" was used maybe forty-seven hundred times.
The first thesaurus was printed in 1852 by a British fellow, is all I'm saying, Herbert George. Not that Wells would necessarily think his work would one day be read into a box of copper, plastic (what's that?) and silicon by some jerk in the Muricun Middlewest for the sake of mild entertainment, but I feel the point stands. It's hard to fault adaptations to original works when the original has any kind of barrier to entry.
This entry, despite the lack of Martians, is particularly busy. London is a pretty big town, afterall, “the greatest city in the world.” I can't escape the idea of rats trying to flee a sinking ship, however we do get to witness a pair of sisters doin’ it for themselves, one with a revolver, even.
